Hellcase review

4.2/5Updated 2026-08-02

One of the oldest case catalogues in CS2, wrapped in a level economy that sells shortcuts as well as granting them.

Hellcase has been opening cases since before most of its competitors existed and puts the receipts on the front page: 842 million cases purchased, 72 million upgrades, 55 million battles, 18 million players. The catalogue underneath runs from six-cent cases to a $145.00 chest, and around it sit battles, an upgrader, a contract tool, a war-tag shop, a seasonal event, a giveaway board and a paid subscription. It is a large, busy, slightly overgrown site, and the busyness is the first thing a new account notices.

The contract is the most interesting tool on the site and the one least copied elsewhere. It states its own terms on screen — combine three to ten items worth between $0.60 and $200.00, choose easy at x1.2, medium at x5 or hard at x10, sign for a shot at something rarer. That is a legible piece of design, and it sits next to a deposit page that is equally direct: enter $100 and the panel resolves to $110.00 plus 500 war tags before the button is pressed, with a country selector and a KYC panel stated rather than sprung later.

The free layer is thinner than the marketing suggests. Three daily cases exist and two of them are locked at level 17 and level 25, against an account sitting at level 2 with 703 of 1,500 XP toward level 3. Weekly giveaways gate at levels 5, 9 and 20. The four-hour giveaway on the homepage prints "refill balance: $0/5" directly on the card, so it is a deposit-gated draw sitting immediately beside a genuinely free one. The 103 community giveaways all hide their terms behind a "view preconditions" button, so what they actually cost is unknowable from the outside.

What tempers our rating is how much of the ladder is for sale. XP boosters are sold at 350 and 800 tokens, at 7,500 and 18,750 war tags, and at $20.00 and $50.00 in cash. Premium subscriptions run $5, $15 and $25 a month for two, four or six monthly cases and access to premium giveaways. And the most telling one: funds from item sales take eight days to land unless you reach level 10, at which point instant deposit unlocks. Speed is a paid feature here, dressed as a level reward.

The condition that decides the whole question is not on any of those screens. Hellcase states in its FAQ that an item cannot be withdrawn until the account has topped up at least $2. Free cases open, free giveaways pay, and none of it reaches a Steam inventory until money has gone in once. Two dollars is a small sum and a reasonable defence against bulk-farmed accounts. It is also the difference between a free-to-play site and a site with a free-to-play front, and it is never printed next to the word free.

Two more of its published rules are worth knowing before an evening on it. An item left unwithdrawn for 30 days is converted back to balance at full cost, which is a decision made for you on a clock the interface never shows. And Valve's trade protection puts a seven-day lock on any traded skin, so an item pulled out of Hellcase cannot be re-traded or sold on within the week — Hellcase correctly says this does not affect withdrawing from Hellcase, which answers a different question from the one most readers are asking.

None of that makes Hellcase a bad account to hold. The catalogue is genuinely one of the deepest in CS2, the event ladder pays out in tokens against a stated refill scale, and the site is unusually willing to write its own rules on the screen where you use them. But the free path is slow, repeatedly interrupted by an offer to make it faster for money, and gated at the exit by a deposit — and that pattern is why we rank it below the case sites above it rather than beside them.

The full sum, the bonus and the war tags, all printed before the button.
Two of the three daily cases are gated at levels 17 and 25.
Progress for sale — up to $50.00 for a week at double XP.

Why we rate it

  • The deposit page prints the whole sum, bonus and war tags included, before you confirm
  • The contract tool states its own rules — three to ten items, $0.60 to $200.00, three multipliers
  • Free war tags are handed out for account hygiene: linking a trade URL, turning on two-factor

Worth knowing: Nothing leaves the account until it has taken a deposit — Hellcase requires a $2 top-up before any item can be withdrawn.

Free case + 5% deposit bonus

Deposit bonus applies to your first top-up automatically.

Where this verdict leans on something no screenshot shows — a licence, a withdrawal minimum, a wagering requirement — it comes from the operator's own pages, named in the text and listed here. Their terms are authoritative about their own rules and no evidence at all that the rules are honoured. Operators rewrite these pages without notice, so each carries the date it was read.
